I think he actually DID do 100mil. The reason why it might have been a mistake is literally just a mistranslation, translations are absolutely incompetent when it comes to large numbers, you'll notice that quickly with other "prodigal series" like this.
Another reason to assume it is because of the end, he said he got 100 points, a billion divide by a million is a thousand, not a hundred. Since he gets One Free Point for every Million he spends, if he DID spend a billion, he should have gotten a thousand points, not a hundred.

There is a bit of a confirmation after this, pretty sure it was the chapter after it but they translate it as 100 million.
Now, whichever one is the actual mistranslation is unclear, but I'm guessing the Billion since he only got a Hundred Points and not a Thousand as he should have if he spent a Billion.
