Tbh, I kinda don't agree with the black haired girl who kept giving him advices to let go of his mother. Imagine being told to let go of your mother who had cared for you even when you were inside her womb, You were raised lovingly despite the toxic environment that they were in. She had sacrificed many of herself just to care for her child, and then being turned into a zombie yet somehow she had restraint to not be able to devour her loving child, Mirai has recognized all that his mother did for him. Of course as a child who experienced that would have a hard time to let go, even if it takes a decade or more. It takes time and dedication to be able to let go, moving onto life trying to find a new hope other than his mother, but where can he find someone who's as loving as his own mother? I don't know on why they were expecting for mirai to change his mind overnight but all I know is that it'll take a while for him to let go, Instead of encouraging him to let go immediately, isn't it better to leave him be and wait for him to open up? Questioning him on why he wants to die isn't it better to respect his decisions? Also slowly telling him that holding on to his mother is okay, and allowing him to take his time to let go.
