@kaiKnowThings (Part 2 of my reply) And it's just like how the Scientist in this chapter said, "how can you even determine what is human and not?" when even those who are human without any monster genes literally act like monsters and those who aren't even purely human act more humane? To answer your question on "so u just gonna give up on being a human. bruh" if being human means the like of those like Dohu the Harpoonist and crazy doctor who has crossed the line of human boundaries, then I'd prefer being a species who isn't purely human but acts more humane than the pure humans do, and who knows? maybe help others with the said thing than be helpless and be subjected to tyranny just because of this pride of being "human" when all that will lead to is inevitable extinction because of refusal of change? change is also what improves life, and if the doctor did ever manage to succeed with his experiments, on the bright side, they can revive civilization again, take back what was lost to them, especially the ones consumed by the ocean, create a society with their newly enhanced genetics and can be peaceful again since they can fightback now, even ordinary people who aren't trained like soldiers are capable of defending themselves now because of this genetic enhancements... I'm not in agreement with the crazy scientist's inhuman activities but the reason why most are against it is because the cost is too great, too much sacrifice to subject to such inhuman activities that it's better not to and since no one is willing to volunteer, but if there is indeed a willing volunteer and let's say they managed to succeed with just one, only one was volunteered and they succeed with such a minimal cost, and in-exchange for that, humans are given the fighting chance that they've hoped for just for one experiment?
