Fake Aeryn suffered from a mysterious anti-aging disease, which Dennigan (he is the new teacher with long white hair and grandpa's friend) also has. It basically freezes your age at a moment in time. It's not something that can be typically recognized, but he did based on how she treated the young men around her -- she's actually around 20yo. Real Aeryn tricked her into accepting a healing stone (created by Nux for Aeryn) as a gift, so that it would slowly undo the illness so that she was revealed. Someone (I think Dennigan) also eavesdropped on them and found out she was acting, and a informed the Duke.
