Maybe the thought reading thing only applies to those who are not romantically interested in her. Because we know that she cant read ML's thoughts and he's inlove with her, and during the ball I think the prince started falling for her too? So maybe once a person starts falling for her 'romantically' she can no longer hear their thoughts? And with the maid and the other mage it's kinda more like fan behaviour than 'pure romantic interest' so maybe thats why even though they rlly like her she can still read their thoughts?
