The King's hatred for his own child has blinded him to see the empire clearly brainwashed him with sweet words when he was 13. Probably wanted to make him a puppet king. And just cuz someone forgets doesn't mean they can't regret and make amends.
@MidnightPaws irrelevant, he’s the king of a nation of thousands before he is the father to one child, and that child destroyed the hard work and future if his kingdoms 5 best warriors; his reason for doing it is irrelevant, granted it’s not the mc who did it, but he can’t explain that. So tbh he’s lucky he’s not dead and has a body at all, mere hatred from his father is the least of his problems
