i dunno why everyones so mad, its not like he knows hes currently being courted by someone and they were childhood friends lol. its only natural he may have gotten feelings back then as a kid that evolved as he grew up, he doesnt seem like hes sabotaging or anything right now either. regardless the entire situation self solves if he introduces teddy as his current love interest, so we can get on and see the side stories of him + his secretary
