So he's too young to follow you and learn how to defend himself but he's not too young to take a life. Ngl the MC is contradictory sometimes bro. This prolly due to his former spear master who was all about being morally grounded and the cult that teaches about survival with little to no room for morality. In his previous life he prolly wouldn't have hesitated to help that kid but he has subconsciously become a 'demonic' human which always tells him life is all about being strong to survive otherwise die and so he subjected the boy to that same principle before helping. But the truth is life isn't objectively tough, it's subjective bcuz as much as this kid has had and will have hardships, there is a kid of the same age in this very world who has and will never know such hardships. It ain't ideal but that's that. So if you see some one you can help just do it guys, if you have it in you that is.

One shouldn't subject someone to hardship just cuz 'life's tough'😂 but hey if that's yr mindset then to each their own my friend.
