@Plagen Shiki the "death" part might also be for security, if he can make artifacts that can make someone "unkilleable" then they probably would either befriend him (thus wanting him alive) or killing him so he doesnt make more of those artifacts and only the royal family have them (thus also wanting him death).

in other words, no matter if he comes dead or alive, both outcomes are good for them
