@Drakulatos I understand Di**'s, but the rest is a little... Di** is short for Derick, while Rick is short for Erick. It's like calling Robert Rob instead of Bob. I had a friend with the name Robert and he would flip when people called him Bob :p always told people to call him Rob if they wanted to shorten it; said his name wasn't Bobert.
As for Erze and Feer, it felt like he was hiding their actual names while they were out on a mission rather than a translation change x.O; I'm hoping so, as the author had a specific intent for using those names. Changing them is the same as changing the author's original intent.
