Fun Fact, Arctotherium angustidens is part of an extinct subfamily of Short Faced Bear that is the South and Central American Short Faced Bear, while North America had the Arctodus simus, also part of an extinct family of Short Faced Bear, that was very similar in height and weight to A. Angustidens. However, A. simus had longer limbs and a generally leaner torso purpose built for high speed sprinting. So imagine, 800,000 years ago, you and your party of homediggities are out hunting around, when you spot in the near distance a 14 foot Bear hauling a*s straight for you at up to 40 miles an hour and all you and the squad got are some spears and possible a few bows. Not that humans we're likely their main food source, which was more likely Prehistoric Horses.
