Can't really say it's that typical redflag turned green trope of liking cause it's so dark. Lets just say he turns from black flag to red flag. They do end up together in a relationship where they are not exactly happy but suffers together lol. If you read it from the start and finish it then the ending won't feel so wrong even if it is. The author really made this super dark like Non zero sum type of sh*t that leaves you with a dark mixed feelings🥀
