@KizioKun He felt kinda guilty coz she purposely gave up whether or not whoever scored more .....

@KizioKun Basically he thinks that he only got top student because Jenika purposely failed, when in reality he would've gotten top student either way. So now he thinks that the achievement wasn't from his own efforts, but instead because Jenika let him.

@KizioKun janica's kindness ruined the competition. Ed wants to aim for the top for survival and he view janica, the top student, as his goal to surpass, even going do or die with the hero-professor. Janica's backing off cuz she wants to/kindness/affection can be viewed also as pity to Ed, rendering all the hardwork Ed work on go down in value. Knowing that janica can be 2nd even not restraining her written is a major blow for janica. For Ed, well he just accept it for the sake of survival

@KizioKun it was it should be "you gave it up to him" not "he gave it up to you". It would sounfd even better as "you gave it up for him"
