I still don't get why the ending of this is not your standard happy ending. They love each other, and very close to each other. It's just making them suffer for the purpose of suffering(((

like they go through war, they got separated because she wanted to help people, and of course he didn't want to risk her life.misunderstanding of course. but at the very end there is just a scene when he is lying on her laps in silence and like no babies, no kisses... it felt very sad. maybe i forgot smt, but thats the most important part
