I completed reading the novel. They say it's a happy ending but I don't know what to say. I cried so much that my head started to ache. But do I regret reading it? No. I don't. It is still one of my favorite one. BTW, I will come back to read the manga once it's completed.

Mushroom lad turns out to be the key to keeping the geomagnetic field and thus the planet stable. He sacrifices himself to save Lu Feng and his spore turns out be a clone of himself with most of his memories intact somehow. They live happily ever after. Sort of. There's a lot the remnants of society have to go through.
