@Mr. Peanutbutter As we saw in the beginning of the story, Shavonne was a prisonguard and also we can see that Lewellyn doesn't like using knives because it's 'dangerous' and he has a bad history with knives so avoides using them. So, I think they met in prison while Shavonne was the guard and Lewellyn was prisoner? That's my hypothese..
