No fricking sh**, kids are like that... They get tall, girls hit puberty usually around 9-12, boys start developing, it was like this when in year 6 and 7. 
They are going to look older.

I mean it is another world...who is to say our standard 12 year old is the same as their (the world our characters belong to).

In Pokemon, 10 year old girls have bre**** as has been the case with every female lead in the series except Misty (who was older than 10) and Bonnie (still a child)
Seen a lot of these things where 15 is adult age... maybe the sames here?
