Actually.. I think he is doing all these things as only because he loves princess.. As in the starting he also said her to drop the weapons and he can let her live.. He just wants to live with the princess I think..

He is under the bi*** influence, as it's explained they don't even realize they are betraying people. I really think he is not a bad guy, he is just under the spell.

I think he is not completely under her spell as you can see it in this chapter, and maybe he already broke the spell but yk he is DUMB and BLIND so, he's just madly inlove with that witch..And I think he's willingly doing all that at this point.
