Why didn't she just run away when she was ten? I mean I obviously would never stay a second with such a "family" AND stealing jewels and cutting hair for examples is way much easier DAH!

its bcoz of their father order, even if she run her siblings will still looking for her , the emperor only need one to survive. so running away is not an option
She couldn't run away. If she did the brothers would chase after because they think she might come back for revenge and take over the throne after everyone else is gone so they would want all possibilities gone. If it was only one possible heir left the would just immediatly crown the remaining and she who ran away would no longer matter.
