This is heartbreaking because he's watching him dying, and there nothing he can do to save him. But, I totally understand not wanting to live through a literal zombie apocalypse. No one wants to see the person/people they love die or get eaten alive and turned into a zombie. The amount of utter dispair and horror of reliving it every single day, especially since it's on repeat until our brown haired baby survives and not just the ml.
