OK so what I am getting here is that, they came to complete an exit mission, got greedy and wanted herbs and stuff, when they tried to warn them by using force they counter acted with force ( yes they did later show that they were acting and would've backed off anyways). I honestly think that it's their own fault for being greedy and since they are dead, they might as well collect the item nothing wrong with it.
