@adwb y'know what.....i'm so tired of this question. every single week we get a flavor of this question, so maybe it's time to engage in this discourse. i hope everyone's asking in good faith, coz i'm gonna try to lay down my arguments in good faith.

first of all, we're never explicitly told eve's age. all we know is that according to the standard of his world, eve is a grownup who's old enough to drink n get married. eve told gozu this in chapter 80.

now, the matter of eve's appearance. eve said that his physical growth is stinted due to his magic (see: chapter 35). he was made fun of a lot bc of his small physique - ppl told him he was all bones n that he looked like a corpse - and that made him very self-conscious n insecure.

@hyou解 lastly, some ppl have pointed out that they watched the anime n got icked when they saw gozu call eve "kid". this isn't definitive, but i think that's mostly due to the nuances of translating smth from japanese to english. the japanese language has smth called gobi[語尾], which roughly translates to "the inflection one uses to end their sentences", like daze[だぜ], desune[ですね], desuyo[ですよ], dabe[だべ], etc, but the english language doesn't have that. translators often (but not always) make up for the lack of gobi by making the character call the name or nickname of their scene partner at the end of their sentences. in this case, perhaps gozu's use of gobi is often translated into "kid" bc it fits gozu's character n at first glance, eve does look childish compared to gozu. to my knowledge, gozu has never called eve a literal kid by referring to him as bouzu[坊主] or bouya[坊や] in the japanese version. he did call eve gaki[ガキ] once, and the closest translation to that is "brat", but that's not smth u exclusively say to someone underage. again, not definitive, so pls take this explanation w/ a grain of salt.

to conclude: i know that for some ppl these reasons don't justify how eve is presented (and the author does admit that she prefers smaller, dainty tops), so if the lore behind his appearance still makes u uncomfortable, then pls curate ur media consumption n don't read this manga. for those staying: happy reading! may the force of the antichrist be w/ u🙏🏼
