@A I understand that but now the story just isn't good and has lost it's meaning as it doesn't evoke a sense of catharsis (let go of negative emotions when a tragedy comes to fruition) in readers anymore. The point of the story was that Linghan has an anagnorisis (awareness of his mistakes) because of peripeteia (change in circumstances) and thus goes through a redemption ark to win back Jiran's love.
Also the fact that the kid is with Jiran and not Linghan is ridiculous because now Jiran doesn't have a reason to be around Linghan that did him wrong and the point of a chip being put into Jirans head has also been lost because it was done so Jiran wouldn't go back for the kid so he could leave his past behind.
@[Clock Zero] so true, i personally think suisui is main reason for jrn to still tolerate ylh at certain degree. Its true ylh will always be his love but the current jrn realize the man dangerous for him and his child. The drama in this story are stepping stone to reach next stage to give natural ending so when its cut/skip the story completely change. Beside if following the original story script although ylh and jrn back together but ylh forever lost jrn who used to love him unconditionally.
@Charcoal_cat Exactly, if not for Suisui then Jiran has no reason to associate with Linghan or even give him the time of day. In the novel Suisui was the reason Jiran kept in contact with Linghan even without memories of the past the connection/feelings are still there. Linghan used Suisui as an excuse to constantly stay in contact and eventually love bloomed again cause in Jirans heart he still loved Linghan despite everything that happened, Love for someone doesn't just disappear when you want it to even if they hurt you.
@[Clock Zero] that sounds nice but does it actually happen like that in the novel? Based on the comments/spoilers of the novel, the ML is terrible and doesn't really admit his mistakes or get better.. Kidnapping, raping, forcing etc is not a redemtion arc...
@Claire This novel is a relationship trainwreck! This Manhua not only changed the plot, It sanitized it. In the novel, the ML does go through a little bit of "change", but definitely not a satisfying redemtion arc(RanRan, what are you thinking!). It is a thoroughly toxic relationship from start to end. But hey! They got a cute kid from it😂 The side stories are just as bad! But I love angsty, toxic stories so I can appreciate the sweet ones even more.
