Let's bet on it and I hope everyone chimes in.

This is the thing that I dislike about this manga, the randomness and chaos, which was it's quirkiness in the first couple of arcs but I think it's quickly becoming annoying.
Switching between battle manga to comedy to drama and romance back to some serious tone just out of nowehere or at the flip of a coin, it kinda makes you feel you can't focus on one thing because the manga has already ran away with the next one.

As for their relationship, it just seems another one of those misunderstandings tropes causing drama and emotional rollercoasters of will they won't they bait and switch.
I think it's going to be swept under the rug and they'll have 2 or 3 panels where they MIGHT address it, but I think that's where the mistake lies, this was intentionally put there to cause this exact response from the reader, to draw you in and make you hope one thing or another.
Because if you put the slightest thought into things, Okarun is literally in a coma and there hasn't been any serious tone around that, like there's no urgency to it and no real worry, no one standing there thinking "this could be the last time".

All that is replaced with cheap drama, "She's getting all buddy buddy with her BFF, oh no what will happen, and poor Okarun sees it all, oh no will he feel bad?"
This would have worked if these events have time to breathe and grow and be explored, but if this gets addressed 30 chapters from now because the next thing that happens is training mode, get serious mode, battle manga mode and whatever else with little no room to breathe between any of the major evens or arcs then you're just telling a story in bursts with great art but horrible pacing...scratch that, no pacing at all just full auto unlimited clip.

@SparklingWater my lazy fingers couldn't type all that. Da** you're goodpepe sticker
@SparklingWater if you are even as much as right 2 times
@SparklingWater I think this might only be an issue if you've caught up and is a week-to-week reader now or something. As someone who's binging this stuff through, the quick pace doesn't really bother me a lot, and the "not having enough time to take in something serious before it gets goofy" thing imo is its charm yes, but it also makes the serious moments stand out a ton, regardless of how short the serious moments happen to be, like I still remember Acrobatic Silky's story, or Evil Eye's.. There are quite a ton of moments where the series plants its foot down and makes the thing serious without any cutaway gag or weird shenanigan next panel imo, although you'll likely only realize those serious and candid moments when you reflect on the series beyond the 1st things which jump into your mind (which would be the wacky, funny, unserious sh** ofc). And I think that's what has to be done here, instead of expecting the manga to give you a breather chapter or slow the pace down the way you do that is just looking back on what has happened. Thats why I'm not as shaken up by how quickly the manga picks itself up after sh** unfolds as you seem to be. Maybe you're just more used to less fast paced stories and shows, but I don't think its a huge flaw on Dandadan's part, I don't really know if you can get used to it so I can't tell you why I'm not bothered by the manga running on to the next one instantly, I just don't get left behind. Maybe if you're still trying to process the chapter take a break? idk if you're a week-to-week reader then you already have time to digest it I guess. Hopefully in the year since you've managed to tolerate it or even get used to it.
