@Darkae who cares how strong he was in his prime. he doesn't know he's the MC of his story with plot armor. in his eyes he could die any day to someone stronger since that's the kind of world he lives in. that's why it's stupid not to take an easy strength boost like this from snakes that aren't even sentient.
