So, a mini theory
As we know Derrick likes Penelope in a romantic manner, and as we can also see he has a bird that looks much too similar to Penelope. Now why is that something to take note of? Well because, the bird is obviously in a cage. But it seems as though its frustrated/trying to get out. This could symbolize how Derrick wants to trap Penelope in the dukedom. (What supports my theory as well is when in the earlier chapters Penelope would try to go out alone or at a festival, or when she would be talking with a man alone, ex cp, marquisx ect. He would be jealous and tell her that it isn't right and she should just go home with him.)
