He should cut her off now, just because she had to go through stuff doesn't mean she can treat her child like that. And why does she think he will be the same as her? Even at 18 I bet he could've loved the child more than she loved him. I feel really sad for him, He just wanted someone who loves him but what he got is a mother who doesn't care about his well being and a husband who doesn't believe him. 


And can someone tell me what was inside the box? Was it ashes? Or the plant?
