To make the math question more easy read this:
There are 2 pipes in the pool
1 of them drains the pool, it takes 40 minutes.
The 2nd one refills the pool, it takes 20 minutes.
One day the staff was doing its usual job, and that was to drain and refill the pool.
They first drained it, and began the filling process.
2 minutes after they began the process they noticed that the draining pipe was on.
They turns it off, and continues to fill the pool.
How many minute's does it take to completely fill the pool?
Answer(+method):
For example; The pool has 80L in it
(Sorry if it's not accurate)
The draining pipe drains 2L a minute.
The refill pipe fills 4L a minute.
(4•X)-(2•X)=
The draining pipe was on for 2 minutes.
(4•2)-(2•2)=
8-4=4
4L has been lost.
How long does it take to fill 4 liters in the pool?
4L/min-4= 1 minute
"The refill pipe takes 20 minutes to completely fill the pool"
20min-1min=19 minutes
Question: How may minute's does it take to completely fill the pool?
