Random thought, what if the white haired girl that is referred to as the 'saint' / 'icon' in the early chapters (the one the flame emperor killed and was caught by our mc) is this old man's granddaughter??

That could be it, knowing that the "Saint" has white hair too, and they both have the nickname with the word "Saint" on it. You're so fuqing smart for that, your comment is like a month ago but who cares?
