As the name suggests, from the very day they met, everything around them gradually turned into a mad place for the protagonists. This manhwa introduces us to a prosecutor who is very good with his job. However, things change for him when he is dragged into solving a very compelling case that revolves around an intriguing suspect.
The story begins with the prosecutor, Sehyuk, being taken by Detective Jang to see the suspect of the aforementioned murder case. To his surprise, Sehyuk is taken to the place he lives. Over there, he meets a guy sitting on the chair, handcuffed. Seeing the prosecutor in a confused state, the suspect, Ha Ideun, smiles and says that he is finally glad to meet the former.
As the news channel playing on the TV, in the background, declares Ha Ideun to officially be the suspect of the murder case, Ideun tells Sehyuk that he is his biggest fan and wishes for Sehyuk to be in charge of the investigation. This, however, isn’t because Sehyuk is good at his job but because this case, somehow, involves him. Unknowingly, Sehyuk refuses, but in the end, he has to give in to Ideun’s demands, unknown of his motives in the Mad Place plot. Ideun, on the other hand, has something else on his mind. He offers Sehyuk a deal: Ideun would give out pieces of information regarding the case to Sehyuk if the latter agrees to get sexually intimate with him. In the end, Sehyuk complies in return for bits of information. However, he soon finds himself drawn towards Ideun and genuinely grows concerned for him.

Traumatic Backgrounds
These two share an interesting relationship, yet one could say this relationship could lead to troubles as one of them is a prosecutor and the other a suspected murderer. To make things more compelling in Mad Place, Ideun’s ambiguity in neither accepting nor denying the murder charges makes us doubt his motives. Furthermore, we are introduced to Sehyuk’s past and his trauma of coming across his brother’s dead body.
However, when it comes to Ideun, we do not really know why he is the way he is. In recent chapters, we are shown that Ideun, too, is scarred by some things that have taken place in the past. Thus, from the two protagonists in Mad Place, Ideun’s character definitely seems to be a very interesting character which makes us think about his exact motives. To know this, we will need to analyze the character, breaking down each of his words and actions.
Who is Ha Ideun?
This is a question that Sehyuk asked himself too. Ha Ideun is a very bold character. He always speaks what is on his mind and gets his way with most things. As mentioned above, he is a character that is different from traditional uke in BL manhwa. He is usually seen as someone who is the first to make a move. This is the reason why he is one of the most loved ukes from BL manhwa. So far, we know what Ideun’s personality is like, yet the question arises, who exactly is he? Ha Ideun definitely seems to be hiding something from everyone, including his personality. What gives this theory away is a small detail that the author added about him in the author’s note at the end of season 1. This detail is Ideun’s MBTI type.
For those who do not know, MBTI is a personality test that has blown up on the internet because of its accuracy. Many authors have given their characters their own MBTI type, which makes it easier for character sketches. In Mad Place, Sehyuk was typed as an ISTJ, also described as a person who is good at observations and inspection. Under Ideun’s MBTI, however, was the word “Unknown”. This gives away the fact that whatever Ideun seems to be like right now, personality-wise, isn’t really him but just an act. He appears to be fearless, but we can catch glimpses of him panicking and being anxious as well as sad.
All of this also makes us question his motives. We know that his ultimate goal is to reveal the truth to Sehyuk. However, he is taking his own sweet time with it as if waiting for something more to happen. He also wants Sehyuk to find the truth out on his own and is shown to have an ulterior motive. All these only sparks more theories and further predictions.
Uhmm.. did you write this yourself? Cuz i think i saw something like this on a website.
Thanks it actually helped I was really confused due to the past translations, I belive the first few chapters in the beginning were a lot more understandable and as it progressed the plot seemed to be even more unclear for me
