i think this whole sequence is really important for understanding especially boris character.
on boris side, boris has not once even tried to receive sehyuns /method of repayment/ towards his kind gestures and so in his scene sehyun (in his pain) tells boris mockingly how is a RIGHTEOUS guy, oh so DIFFERENT from others and doesn't want anything from him.
BUT HERE THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF BORIS CHARACTER OCCURS, we see him in last chapter just walking past a girl getting gangr*ped by group of guys and he doenst do anything at all but ignore. but later his sister will have the same thing happen to her too and ig that would be a turning point for him. THE WAY HE SEES HIMSELF HE IS NOT RIGHTEOUS AND DIFFERENT FROM SEXUAL ABUSERS AND RAPISTS JUST BECAUSE HE ISNT ONE HIMSELF. thats why when sehyun mocking calls him righteous and different, he chooses the path he has been avoiding till now, its his way of conveying he isnt above others who did wrong and not different. its his way of proving, validating. he doesnt view himself as different. THOSE WHO STAND BY AND JUST WATCH WOMEN AND ANY OTHER MINORITIES GET OPPRESSED WITHOUT DOING LITERALLY NOTHING AT ALL ARE NO LESS ABOVE THE ABUSERS THEMSELVES. many of you will disagree me on this. but women always hear ‘not all men’ whenever we complain about men. bcz ofc not every men is rapist but how many of men actually speak up when they see their friends and colleagues doing something misogynistic, they just laugh off a misogynistic joke and too comfortably watch men around them sexualise and objectify women, too many men are comfortable with their roles as spectators of rapists/misogynists/potential rapists and thats why things have only been getting worse for women. i have very much simplified this issue for writing boris character but ig yall can get it.
