ahhh this is really interesting! i can't imagine how frustrating it must be, having studied medicine in a modern setting, just to be thrown in a time period where the necessary equipment simply doesn't exist yet. it's fascinating to think of how far we've gotten - and how hard doctors worked then, despite everything. amazing.
