@M-x I disagree with you on this because I don't believe it's out of character for him as their relationship has been pretty toxic from the start nor was their relationship ever truly defined and put into words. They are both in a situation where they are trying to survive and I do agree with the little fact that they are each others safe space but it's definitely not healthy. Yes, previous conflicts were solved without grape but in this particular situation Seong-rok feels quite threatened by Si-eon because he understands that from the very beginning Je-oh was using him to protect himself but now that there is someone else that can definitely provide him with more than what he can offer and he's scared cause at this point he loves Je-oh but he isn't confident that Je-oh's feelings for him is genuine and fear makes people do very silly things.
I don't mean any disrespect cause people interpret stories in different ways but to say it's a downgrade for the character and story in general is ridiculous. You need to learn to not project your own feelings onto works of fiction like this because if I'm understanding this correctly, you've automatically said it's a downgrade because of your own personal feelings about grape without truly thinking of reasons why this grape scene was put into the story.
