@reyongz13 I don't think most were arguing whether or not she cared, just that her treatment was objectively cruel and doing more harm than good. Its kind of like parents never letting their kids have any freedom for fear that their future will be screwed up by the actions of others. Fine intentions, poor execution. Impact vs intent.

@XMLrm I hate when stories make smart FLs dumb when it's plot relevant. I would've rather she attempted to not be alone with him, but just got sneak attacked and knocked out or something. The end result would've still been the same, but they could've used Finels cowardice as a plot device instead of having her be stupid for 5 minutes

What I DID do was compare her behavior to that of a bullied victim becoming the bully, in the sense that you putting harm unto others isnt justified just because of what you went through, and intent doesnt outweigh impact. Whether she has good intentions or not, the objective truth is she's kicking her sister while shes down, placing responsibility for not being able to stand against her abuser onto her, and being cold and cruel in a situation that doesnt require it. People like you like to equate bluntness with honesty, when that isnt inherently the case. You can be honest, even firmly honest, without being cruel. If the person is worse off than before you spoke to them, you didnt help them no matter what your intent was.

I feel like youre also being weird irt her listening to her dad just because he doesnt know Riftan. It completely ignores the fact that SHE doesn't really know Riftan. Not on a deep level at least. She loves him, but realistically she doesnt know a whole lot about him just due to who he is as a person. Given that this implied time period and society place a lot of weight on the production of heirs, and she's been told her whole life thats where any potential value she has is, its not out of left field shed believe a divorce would follow a miscarriage/lack of heir: BECAUSE ITS HAPPENED. AND ITS HAPPENED WITH PEOPLE FAR MORE POWERFUL, SKILLED, AND SOCIALLY ACCEPTED THAN HER. So combine those two things with her only being out of a 2 decades long abusive environment for...what...a year??? Her doing anything other than this would, quite frankly, be surprising (and a lot less realistic).

@Ilovemanhwaslikethat "okay" is an exaggeration, no one really LIKES that Maxi is so timid. However, there is a difference between your trauma harming mostly yourself, and your trauma harming other people. Its the same concept behind it not being okay for a bully victim to become a bully. Even if we can see the path of progression, youre still choosing to put harm out there, and thats objectively going to cause a larger impact that outweighs your intent. If Rosetta were just bitter and jaded, I dont think people would care, because no one cares now. What people dislike her for is how she treats her sister, that her being jaded is used to tear her sister down. Output vs input: her merely hating the world is a step and a jump from trying to influence her sisters view of it and preemptively break her heart.

Again, some people just dont like characters who are mean to those undeserving of it, and you dont get to pretend theyre wrong for that. It only becomes an issue when/if they start painting her as the "true villain" over the Duke.

@Ilovemanhwaslikethat I dont think anyone's wrong for disliking her. Regardless of intentions or the why, shes still being cold, cruel, and objectively bitchy to her sister. Intent doesnt outweigh impact, and people are entitled to dislike someone behaving poorly even if the reasons are explainable. Believe it or not, some people just dont like mean characters 🤷🏾♀️ So long as they arent painting her as the "true villain" over the Duke, its fine.

@Damon'sWh*re<3 I think my issue is more that she had a place to stay, a place shes been staying. Father or not, he doesnt outrank Agnes, and in this type of setting women post-marriage belong to their husbands more than their fathers, meaning he has no actual authority to dismiss the knights. I'm upset she didnt even try to stay, but Im more upset that Agnes and the knights aren't pushing back beyond asking her a singular question.
