well..you must have never been in an abusive relationship before. Even if a person sees the abusive side of their partner it's still hard to end things because there are still good moments in-between (the author showed that quite well). You tell yourself that everything will get better because there are good moments. You make excuses for your partner's bad/abusive behavior because at the end of the day you still love them.
