Wait I know this condition. It is a Phenomenon called " trauma bonding". The MC is currently suffering from a trauma actually opposite of trauma. when the ml first saved mc from that closet. MC started to think that ml was his saviour or some kind of Hero. so mc started to believe that ml was his distined one or( his other half)and he can't live without ml. so, even when the  ml started to abuse mc or cheat on him. He thinks it's fine as long as the ML return to MC.
This kind of patients need a lot of emotional support and family or siblings or friends must support him and make tim think that he can live without that person. 
Mc must consult to a therapist.
