That's not how duke died in novel.Duke was a 5 star mage ,5 star mages are very powerful, they are one step behind to transcend human limit,if they think there life at risk they counterattack in a blink of  eye. I think this has more dramatic effect then how novel kill duke.

I don't know readers like denise or not but I like denise because of her character growth, she has the most character development over the course of the story, there another character but she comes some arcs later.
