@Dyna I feel like we have a last little confession arc... the ex husband comes back, threatens them all and during the resolution Sofia confesses her feelings out loud to pursue her happiness and all that jazz

@IDK well you know what they did recently... if he picked fights with his son in law now hed just be causing trouble for his daughter

@The one that is always hidden i dont think hes that much younger? i think at most like 1-2 years... it feels like nikola is at least 3-4 years younger

@Akiroooo i mean its highly likely... its just a little confusing when they have basically no ages so the only age identifiers are like "short" or "wrinkles" because Ras and him gen look like they should be identical in age

@The one that is always hidden yea i figured that must have been it, but it makes me confused about the brother like did she have him right after Ras or is he not the moms? Nikola does look younger but the brother and Ras look pretty much the same age

@Venaldre No Laura knew he existed, I mean her dad left her with her grandmother do you not remember? What she thought was that she was abandoned. 

However to Dalton, he has lived his whole life thinking that maybe Louise left his daughter with either her mother/ relatives she was probably very loved, considering how affectionate Louise was when speaking about her. Dalton would have assumed she wouldn't be in an environment where shed be mistreated. He had seen Louise handmake presents for her and write her letters frequently. He had seen Louise work himself to death to be able to provide for her. I think Dalton simply lived his entire life believing that his teachers feelings were reciprocated and that his daughter knew how loved she was. He had just learned she didnt even know he passed. I assume his first thought was that her relatives must have know and simply hid it from Laura so she wouldnt be distraught. Then he learns he had received nothing from Louise while he was at the Dalton estate. He must still have been holding onto the hope that surely she had to have know how much he loved her, when Dalton had gotten to see it himself everyday. 

We must also consider that Dalton had grown up very loved and privileged his whole life. Laura meanwhile had grown up parentified, separated from the love she had deserved and disadvantaged. She must learn selfishness just as Dalton must learn selflessness. 

I am not saying hes not being a bit of an a*s, however hes not being cartoonish about it. His shock and reaction to me feels very human. Both are rigid and unfair in their point of view of the world, that is why they must learn from each other. 

@Venaldre tbf id say hed being very human. Just as to Laura her father abandoned her without a word but what to her became an empty promise for her entire life and she had to suffer the unfair effects of her parents love and union. Dalton had seen his favourite person extensively talk about his beloved daughter that he was saving up to provide for to the point it killed him. Said daughter that he had seen the man make gifts and send letters to. Both are right in their feelings. Just as Laura does not have to move on from the hurt her fathers absence cause, Dalton can feel hurt for the person he was close to being blamed when he himself witnessed the sincerity of the fathers feelings. Neither of them are to blame, besides the Pendleton a**hole

@Shay tbf she said that the rule book has curses that are not dangerous, not every curse is meant to be like the tree, rat or the curse of jace,... We also did have her mention that one of the curses she broke wasnt describes in the novel, so while overconfident, she could have fully been making a reasonable assumption... 'oh maybe the servants have their own version of the thumping ghost lady and just use it to inconvenience other servants for a while'
