@Taniwa The reasons for Heiner's order as deduced by me is that request he had asked from her before divorce. That she has to "live" or someting like that. He doesn't believe that Annette had gone to the frontlines to 'live' and rather believes that she has gone there to die. Which might be half-truth or quarter- truth but it doesn't by any means give him the right to place an order for her to go to the rear.
Look, here is the thing- I don't really think that his actions have a VERY deep meaning, sure he is a bit conflicted and all that but somehow I don't find myself empathizing much with him. Annette has come to know her mistakes, I know that but as I said, Heiner's quota of using the fact that her life was built upon ignoring the people she was responsible for has come to an end. The moment Annette tried to suicide, anyway he had no right to execute such emotional disaster upon her on behalf all those tortured souls, in my opinion.
Trying to find too much meaning in somone is also equally blind which in my view is the thing you are doing here. But since we are readers, I'd like to ask the same question to you- What do you think is the reason for Heiner to send her to the rear?
This will be my last comment here since I noticed that the next chapter has come up and I'd like to leave my debate competitions in my high school so yeah... Still I would like to read your views CLEARLY as to understand you.
