i'm impressed. i didnt think that i would feel sorry for her, i thought it would be just a bad mom who suddenly left, yk a cliché, but this literally made me sympathize a lot with her, specially because i'm in a kinda similar situation.
The author is really good at backstories, you can really see her pain and even put on her shoes.

i agree, that would be too mean bc she was all alone and had to raise jian yi by herself, but considering he's on mafia stuff it's something he couldve done... idk maybe in on denial cuz the poor jian yi never even met him 😭
