@Someonemorallygrey the only way to live YOUR life (it's yours, not your mother's life) it's moving away from her house and living by yourself. It can be so sad or lonely (or poor..) , but the feeling of a new start is priceless.. U can do it, u just need to take courage. Gogogogo

@Someonemorallygrey remember it's your life I understand filial piety but you're not living for your mom you can do things for her but you should decide how you wanna live before you regret everything I hope she will understand as your mother if she is a good mom she surely will understand you

In the last few months I have realised one thing .. to stop parenting your parents and it has somehow given me some peace.. I'm grateful and I respect all those things they have done for me and I recognise the sacrifices they have done for me. But still I'm going to stick to my own happiness and choose myself. Yes that does disappoint my mom in some ways when I'm not "what the society expects" from an Indian women. But she has also come in terms with the fact that her disappointment doesn't affect me anymore.
