@R I agree he's a bit overly enthusiastic at the moment but it is his first time being in love so I'm giving some grace, and for the most part he's been concious of his actions and words towards everyone trying to be a gentleman. Im sure when they get to speak on why she's rejecting him he'll take a step back, although she will lie and say she has no affection towards him. We also know Laura actually likes him and wasn't being honest with herself until recently, and because of her fear about her social standing, future children and ridicule her husband will get she won't allow herself to even dream of having a family. Honestly I enjoy these two together and hope Ian can make Laura see she shouldn't be ashamed and look for happiness. Again im not saying not being married wont bring her happiness but from the last chapters we know Laura has smothered her own self and wishes to conform to society and be accepted by them to a certain extent.
