Kodansha the publisher also noticed the fanbase that translators had gathered for her work (this author made no attempts to market or make her work available to the overseas audience mind u so no one overseas had even known of her and her comics existence) and offered her an opportunity to publish that comic overseas [mind u this author also had none of her previous works released to an overseas audience to establish her brand there].
What she refused to consider was that translators had bought the raws so they werent some how stealing copies of her work and were giving her free marketing if she had just said "look i got a licensing agreement thanks to that translation you made so feel free to take a break from it I've hired an official translating team to publish my work in u country so encourage fans to officially send their support there" I could easily accept that and wouldnt be salty over it.
This is just an anecdote about my point above
