@I am a sinner 1. Where is the line for acceptable vs. Unacceptable? I would say that starts and ends with "human". When it becomes less than that it starts to show the intentions of the *hunters* not the prey.
2. The prey's worthiness as prey is irrelevant to my condemnation of the hunters.
3. The fact that there are posts that are cheering on this behavior, tells me otherwise. I'm not claiming the author is literally trying to garner support to make this as a new law, but they way they it is portrayed is obviously as if it is a morally acceptable if not morally superior to do.
4. I am engaged to one. I know secondhand how awful it is. And fvck you for thinking I cannot have empathy for others because of what I've said. You know nothing about me, and I know nothing of you.
As to your final point, i want to say 2 things:
1. The prisoners were given a non-choice. They could try to run away from being hunted, and have a chance to get away with their freedom. Or they could apologize. But the problem is that it's not just an apology (which would make this a teeny bit more acceptable, I'll admit). But no, the apology will be met with punishment that is hinting at being ruthless and humiliating and otherwise very unpleasant. That's not a choice, that's bribing them to become prey less they feel your wrath.

2. I've seen this situation used often in fiction. Human hunters are using human (or elves/humanoids) captives to hunt for sport.
You know what is awfully consistent in those stories? Who the bad guys are.
