You keep bringing up how sensitive slavery is but so are grape, abuse, coercion, murder, war, and racism. Fiction includes sensitive topics all the time. The question is whether they're being glorified or critically portrayed not whether they exist at all. And the law point doesnt rlly help your argument. Gerald's father owned the ranch before emancipation. The law didnt create slavery it ended its legal status. Those ppl were already enslaved before the law was passed. Atp i feel worse for the author than anything. The series barely started and ppl jumped straight from criticism to acting like anyone discussing the writing is personally endorsing slavery.
