@Maomaoxo So what? What about the other slaves? Was that necessary? If you can't handle such a sensitive topic why add them in the first place? Y'all act awfully dense sometimes
@Rei So grape, abuse, and coercion are acceptable fictional content, but slavery existing in an 1800s setting is where realism becomes a problem? The MC litr freed the slaves and the series barely started.
@gaymensslut againnnnn only bringing those issues out to defend this slop? Where did I even say that I jack off to those r*e bls? Where???
Slavery and racism have all these issues, slaves were raped, assaulted, abused, killed, eaten. Do you realise that this is a very sensitive topic? H*l you mean "slavery existing in an 1800s setting is where realism becomes a problem?" You did read it once before sending that right?
And the mc only freed them after the law was issued after the war, you did read that right? There are already so many issues right at the very first chapter and you want this to continue? Y'all are the very reason why I'm so happy this got discontinued and the backlash knocked some sense into the artist.
Do research before you defend sumn, you look stupid
@Rei You're still doing that thing where anyone who disagrees with you must be "defending" slavery. Im questioning your logic, genius. You keep bringing up how sensitive slavery is but so are grape, abuse, coercion, murder, war, and racism. Fiction includes sensitive topics all the time. The question is whether they're being glorified or critically portrayed not whether they exist at all. And the law point doesnt rlly help your argument. Gerald's father owned the ranch before emancipation. The law didnt create slavery it ended its legal status. Those ppl were already enslaved before the law was passed. Atp i feel worse for the author than anything. The series barely started and ppl jumped straight from criticism to acting like anyone discussing the writing is personally endorsing slavery. Shut your mouth and keep scrolling if you don't like it
@gaymensslut sigh you shouldn't feel worse for the author who didn't research before handling a sensitive topic and got backlash for it, you should feel worse for yourself for defending sumn the author already apologised for being insensitive. Also when did I say I don't know about fiction having sensitive topics? I like watching those when they're handled well but this? So many people have already said that this makes them uncomfortable. You talk as if I ever encountered a pedo slop comic, should I also shut my mouth and keep scrolling caz I don't like it and find it insulting? Please make it make sense
@Rei actually you should shut up. you're still goin on abt the same thing. Maybe reread what i actually said.
Wt exactly was the author supposed to do after receiving threats? The story is set in a time and place where slavery was a real historical reality. Erasing Black ppl from a slavery narrative would be far more disrespectful than acknowledging that history existed. Ppl didn't even give the author a chance to continue the story before judging it. And while we're at it, are king peasant dynamics, servant master relationships, and other forms of social hierarchy in manhwas suddenly fine? I never said slavery was right. My point is that ppl seem selective about what they condemn. Other degrading systems get a pass but the moment slavery is involved, nuance goes out the window.
@gaymensslut are you dense on purpose? Aren't you going on about the same thing as well? I never read any of what you mentioned but did those manhwa have setting based on actual events? Did those events include genocide of an ethnic group? Did that affect ancestors of actual people? Talking about how erasing black people would've been disrespectful when so many people educated on this topic, unlike you, agree that it'd have been way better if slavery was never brought out in the first place and it could've just been a cowboy romance. Actual black people are telling you that they found the story uncomfortable and you're going on and on about how the author should've let to continue when the author is sensible enough not to? You just look stupid tryna reason out with sumn that doens't make sense at at. Of course it's not fine? There's still power imbalance between king and peasant but it could work out thro careful pacing and master servant? Depends. But this? Nah.
There were no "threats" to the author, I didn't find a single one today. Since jaxx is a well known author, most have expressed disappointment but I haven't seen a single threat on any platform. Also this is the first time a Korean author has acknowledged their ignorance and apologized for it, be happy won't ya instead of staying miserable and not getting the point thro your head? Comparing king peasant and master servant to slavery owner and slave? Have you lost your mind? Do your research like I said instead of making yourself look dumb asf here, shutting up now would save you some grace even when no one would rmb your whining
@Rei yappity yappatron if your argument was that solid, you wouldn't need 3 paragraphs of insults to carry it.
@gaymensslut you look so pathetic rn you can't support your own argument so now you're insulting me lmao
