Yeah, I expected this type of response.  It's quite similar to, "I knew people who became rich with bitcoin so working hard and saving your money isn't the only way.".

You seem to think you've got a "gotcha" by asking lots of "what if" questions.  Those are all variable that need to be carefully considered in each situation so I don't have an absolute answer for you.  Mostly, you have to use good judgement and take the non-interesting paths of the highest success rates.

Sure, you are correct that there is more than one path to our shared goal, however there are paths that are far more successful on average than others and there are also paths that more often than not destroy people.  It seems that you are also one of those people who won't listen to success stories because you prefer your concept of chaotic non-parenting and my family's method requires lots of invested effort and proper planning.  You are also correct that there is nothing guranteed in life, only strategies that work more or less often.

Of course, you have earned the right to gamble with your family's future and your children's long-term happiness.  I wish you luck.

@Prinzinc Of course you saw my message like that, and there's a term for that: Tunnel Vision.

I just gave you examples of success in marriage with my family, even in the "messy" and "gambling ridden relations" that my family had and, except for one uncle, everyone is happily married with kids, and sadly you only focused on the "what if" statements, which by the way, it's one of the million reasons why your way of thinking is really not that "more successful" because life is not a straight line, life is about those what ifs that you hate so much, by asking "what if I get sick, and I don't have any money" you can then rationalize "I should save money to cover any medical fees", "I should get a job that includes medical care" or "What if I want my kids to go to an excellent school" then you think "I should investigate the schools around me and see if I have to relocate" and so on. Also, those "what if" that you hate so much is the reason why we are having this conversation, because you are asking "what if you let them date so early/date around and they end up gambling their future, I won't allow that"

Sadly, you seem to think “My way or the highway” so yeah, continue to see this path as the stupid one because you are right and never wrong. Good luck to you as well my buddy, you will need it.
