Fellow readers, I need your opinion. I want to give BL a try, but I want to avoid the toxic relationships and sm**, if it can be helped. Any recommendations?
Imagine having a website where none of the mods deal with the spam bots. Took them WAY too long to deal with the CP ones.
@Lulwat85 better started with shounen ai if you don't want see those seggs scenes yet I recommend "when the killer fall in love" it's have action n comedy but if you looking for fluff one "don't say you love me" or "here u are" for a bit drama
@Lulwat85 let me throw few more -Netkama punch -I wanna be your first love -Far away from cold -pond snail robber -star x fanboy - I have to be great villain
@Lulwat85 so tbh the ones I'm reccomending u aren't explicitly bl but like it's definitely in the theme of it. (Also they're all slice of life)
-Catman and Dogman (honestly really funny in my opinion, lots of chapters even though they are short, pretty lighthearted overall but with a more serious undertone to move the story :D) -A Mild Noble's Vacation Suggestion (lost noble becomes an adventurer(with a small twist), lots of bromance, rlly cute, art is really nice, but they haven't updated in a long time) -Josou Sh*** Mendoukusai Koto ni Natteru Nekura to Yankee no Ryou Kataomoi(the tags don't say shounen ai but I'm pretty sure they are gonna end up together. Crossdressing on both sides; Bl, straight, and gl all in one ;P a little stressful with all the complicated relationships and stuff but it's pretty funny overall)
these are what I recommend as stuff to read as someone who doesn't like reading sm** (also the last two are mangas)
@Lulwat85 My advice : try old BL (before 2015) and see for yourself.
Because nowadays BL are full of lies and toxicity (which you want to avoid) and their communities , unless it's so law breaking that even the most twisted ones cannot deny it, fail to recognize the toxicity (which is problematic but that's a whole other problem).
btw I'm no BL/GL reader but I did read a spoonful of stories so as to "know" what is it about. Might not even amount to twenty stories and I barely remember few titles (e.g.: Junketsu drop).
@Ryip REAL oml early 2010's BL was p Fluffy in reaction to early 2000's bl/(manga in general) which was trying to divest itself of the notion that manga/comics was for children (esp in the west and w the advent of image sharing websites). So the 2010's had really adult themes/plots (Okane Ga Nai/My Sensitive Pornograph) which led to extremely fluffy plots (Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi/Junjou Romantica). Eventually Korean and Chinese artists developed their own stylings and followed the general trend of tamer plotlines but with the appeal of a different layout and cultural backgrounds (Cherry Blossoms After Winter/ Heesu in Class 2/19 Days). By 2020 publishers have started really focusing on popularity trends which is why BL seems oversaturated w sm toxic stories/abo/cinderella/reincarnation/regression stories.
@beefyqueefs Well I read straight romances but I also remember plenty of fluffy stories targetting adults rather than children (e.g.: Diamond life).
Kinda disappointing to see kids (children, teens and even young "adults") thinking "adult things" = "pawrny". Funny enough, one chapter of Beast complexe shades some light onto the fact many middleaged men and/now older are capable of imagining fluffly plots that can appeals to young women/girls.
