@nomo the author apparently gives extra info on these guys in their twitter or smth and turn out his dad beat him up since he was a child. When his mother and sister left for a better place, he got the brunt of the abuse and since he was young thought money was the problem as he knew a rich family who all cared about one another and so forth. His dad said that women could just marry and run away from labor yadda yadda and bc Minho was a kid he believed that. Interesting fun fact, Minho was apparently really nice when he was a kid, and I think it does slightly show that in that scene where he gets drunk in the side story.
