@TotallyAbsurd It's a bit different. His cursed item gives a buff effect, it was called a cursed item because of the material used and the spell he used to casted the buff effect is essentially a curse, he just twisted the curse. The problem is he thought, this is something that everybody can do. Not everyone can manipulate this curse material and cast a powerful curse that gives a buff effect instead of an actual curse. This assassin girl is trying to find him because the ring he gives the princess has a powerful defense capability. Sure he also made the cursed item with an actual curse in mind like the one he unleashed when he fought the cockatrice but he didn't sell that kind of cursed item. Selling the weapon itself is not a problem seeing that dwarf girl talk about magic in the weapon, the only problem is he's not aware of how Op the buff effect and the true worth of his ability.

Except that's exactly what I meant in my very first sentence.
Him being a dummy is no excuse for selling OP items. Even his "mild" ones are leagues above the best sh*t. In this universe it's enough to make the power that be in jeopardy: suicide from a blade in his back deserved. He had it coming and that'd make a way better plot, let's be real.
